Overlooking the lush Santa Maria Valley atop the bluff sits Toretti Family Vineyard. This ultra boutique vineyard is located in Santa Barbara County on five acres. Robert Torres, founder and local trailblazer turned from restaurateur to harvester planting premium Pinot Noir in 2000 on the family’s ten acre ranch. Toretti Family Vineyard blends Robert’s wife Marlene’s maiden name, Maretti with the surname Torres. The Maretti family is one of many Swiss families that left their European roots to settle on the Central Coast in the early 1900’s from Someo, Switzerland in the Canton of Ticino. This tiny town practiced a traditional lifestyle of homegrown produce, fresh herbs and cheeses served as an everyday affair in the outdoor stone grotto with a bottle of table wine. The Torres and Maretti family carry on the tradition of family gathering together in groups small and large celebrating the little moments along with the big. Toretti Family Vineyard is family owned and operated and turns out around 500 cases a year of Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay and several other varietals procured from various locally owned vineyards.

Today, Toretti Family Vineyard continues to be a family affair. Bob's daughter, Milena, runs the day-to-day operations of their Los Olivos tasting room, and their other "Familia" (aka wine club). Bob continues to be the "boss" and manages operations, sales, and overall development of the wine making program. He is constantly learning the art of wine making, the industry as a whole, and how to evolve Toretti's wines to their full potential. The family is passionate about continuing to honor and cultivate the unique terroir of their vineyard, in the Pinot-friendly hills of the Santa Maria Valley.

In the heart of the Santa Maria Valley, Toretti Family Vineyards boasts 5 acres of vineyard, planted exclusively with Pinot Noir. Bob planted clones 23 and 114 in the year 2000, and Caymus Vineyards, the prestigious Napa winery immediately picked up the first yield, a real honor and testament to the quality of the valley’s grapes. After several harvests the Torres family celebrated their first crush under their own label in 2003.

On our 5 acre estate vineyard, we have 3 different blocks: Grande, Largo & Bocce, formerly used as pasture for cattle. Across these 3 blocks, we have planted 2 different clones, and are always looking to create unique combinations of all of these elements. Our wines spend from 18 months, and sometimes up to 2 years in barrels, with 30%-50% in new French Oak. Our approach is totally unique and varies from vintage to vintage; due to change in weather, and the delicate nature of the Pinot Noir grape. Toretti strives to produce reserve-quality, Estate wines from year to year, paying homage to the current profile of the vintages that are produced. Although Toretti grows Pinot Noir exclusively, we have also produced award-winning Chardonnay and Rosada (Rose) of Pinot Noir. Each of Toretti's wines have received recognition and been awarded prestigious medals from a variety of industry competitions.
